EmpowerEd Caldwell
Education that fits your life.
Caldwell County Schools has created a new choice that allows the walls of the traditional classroom to be moved. EmpowerEd Caldwell provides the academic foundation of a trusted North Carolina school district with the total flexibility of an asynchronous learning model for students in grades 6-12 across North Carolina. Through dual enrollment and a broad course catalog, students have options. Whether your student is a competitive athlete, thrives with a different pace or setting, is currently an online learner or is homeschooled, we are here to empower their learning.
This is more than "Zoom School." It's learning reimagined.
We’ve moved past the era of emergency remote learning, and limited options for families who seek school choice. EmpowerEd Caldwell is an intentional, high-tech, and highly interactive model designed for the modern North Carolina student. By removing rigid schedules, we give the power back to the family. School should fit the student, not the other way around.
EmpowerEd Caldwell is not a charter school—it's a model of options. You can enroll with us full-time, or choose to remain a registered homeschooler and dual-enroll for specific courses, sports, or arts. You keep your status; we provide the support. No cost to your family - we're homeschool cool, but public school free.

The Big Questions
-
It means your student is not tied to a bell schedule. Flexible log-on times and flexible times to interact with teachers. Students access their high-quality curriculum when it suits their day — whether that’s at 6:00 AM before a swim meet or 7:00 PM after a family outing.
-
No. Most "remote learning" is a quick-response version of a brick-and-mortar classroom. EmpowerEd Caldwell is an intentional learning model. It was built from the ground up to be flexible and full of choices, not a "virtual copy" of a typical school day.
-

Yes. But there are some considerations.
- Caldwell County Residents: Students who live in Caldwell County are eligible to participate in all programs – sports, band, theater, art, clubs, etc. at their zoned school if they have transportation to and from the campus or location.
- Out-of-county: Out-of-county EmpowerEd students can participate in most extracurriculars and special programs, but there are some specific circumstances regarding athletics.

-
Yes. Every course is overseen by a North Carolina-certified educator. While the instruction is asynchronous, our teachers will grade assignments, provide feedback, and are available for one-on-one virtual "Office Hours." Staff will even be available for in-person, face-to-face support whenever a student hits a roadblock.
-
We believe social milestones matter. EmpowerEd students are invited to participate in their school’s social events. Students who dual-enroll at a Caldwell County Schools campus will partake in in-person interaction and socialization each day. At the end of the journey, our seniors walk across the stage in a formal graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
-
No. Every EmpowerEd student is issued a district-owned Chromebook pre-loaded with the necessary software and security filters to ensure they have the "Local Roots" of a CCS student wherever they are. Chromebooks are for student use only.
-
Be a parent. You don't need to be a math expert or a science teacher – our curriculum and staff handle the instruction. Students will be most successful when you provide the environment, the encouragement, and the accountability to help your student stay on track with their learning – same as traditional school.
-
We provide parents and guardians with access to a portal that displays their students' results and provides access to Caldwell County Schools instructional leaders. These resources give you real-time data and support regarding your student’s progress, "time on task," and current grades. You’ll see what we see, and we’ll help you understand that information and develop responsive plans to achieve results.
