Parents receive annual notification of their parental rights under state and federal law in the Parent Power publication, which also defines the specific action that is required by school districts in North Carolina. The privacy and confidentiality of student records governed in part by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) are also explained in this booklet, to include an opt-out opportunity for disclosure. The opt-out letter is available below or you may request a copy from any school administrative office.
